Camerawork analysis

pick three camera shots and explain the effect they have on the audience.

joker(2019)

Establishing shot-because to show that the setting is meant to be in the city and you can see lots of cars which shows that it a rich city and the story might be based on a rich person who maybe has lots of money to give to poor people. People feel happy when they see the man giving money to the poor.

track/dolly-They use this camera shot that suggests that there is a police chase or a type of chase but can also show that the person is very strong so they show him very big and strong.they also use it because it's very fast and it will stay on the same pace of the car or the man who is running. And that will be entertaining for a certain age group.

medium close up-is a shot that shows your waist up to your head and it's used to focus on the man who has a type of facial expression e.g. upset or excited. Every age group will loke this shot when they react to this shot because it's a very interesting shot.

2) Pick two camera angles and explain the effect they have on the audience.

Tilt-When the actor was looking at the tv they tilted the camera low and that showed the audience that the character (Auther Fleck) as a very strong and big man and that will have a very amazing and cool feeling in the minds of the audience and they will remember what happens in the film.

Zoom-The actor had an angry facial expression and the cameraman zoomed in so it's more entertaining and it will give the audience goosebumps and they will be excited to find out what happens next in the film and they will watch it closely.

3) Analyse the camera movement at two key points in the clip and write about why the director chose to use that camera movement.

The camera movement is slow and the track/dolly is going slow too when he is walking down the street at the start of the trailer and they showed the street in a crane shot which is now referred to a drone. That will make the audience feel calm and relaxed. When it was coming to the middle of the trailer the track/dolly shot was going fast an the audience would fell excited for what will come next.

When the joker is talking the camera shot is handheld you can tell because it was a bit shakey that will have an amazing reaction on the audiences face because it's like he is talking to them and they will watch the movie closely and would want to find out what happens next.

Towards the end of the movie, they use a zoom shot when he was on the train and they used a two-shot when he was talking to two people at the very end of the movie. This will make the movie more entertaining for audiences to watch.
